NUEVA FUERABAMBA CASE STUDY

For mining projects, resettlement requirements are primarily determined by the location of the ore deposits. The Ferrobamba deposit was located on a property owned by the Fuerabamba community. In addition to the ore deposit, considerable land areas were required for the construction of the project's main infrastructure.

  • The resettlement process involved 507 families (approx. 1,600 people).
  • In-kind compensation included houses built in Nueva Fuerabamba, land as well as public infrastructure including schools, a health centre and community facilities.
  • Family Life Plans: designed to ensure income generation, health and education for the Fuerabamba community.
